Hello. In my area I do not need to protect the plants from cold weather. The temperature only goes down to 46 degrees farenheit. If the temperature drops to freezing then the plants need to be protected. I've read of some use tarps to cover it. Aloooha. I've lived in Oahu kaneohe for 3 years. If the seed you planted came from a fruit that has thorns on the skin then they are self fertile. If the seed came from a fruit that has no thorns then it will need cross pollination, and there is a big chance that it will not bear a yellow fruit.
